This was an easy read. After getting a bit into the book, I realized it was part of a series. Not sure if it's the second or third book. Might have been a better read if I'd read the earlier works, but it did stand alone. The gist of the story is a lord from Regency England falls in love with a fairy from the land of the Fae. On their first night together. *eye roll* He has her vial of fairy dust so she can't do magic. She pretends to get a little intoxicated and helps him do likewise. They have sex, and while he's sleeping it off, she steals back her fairy dust and slips away.
Seems like a one night stand, except they're now in love with each other...
There's a bit about not knowing her parents because her father is human and so she was taken from them and raised by grandparents. Maybe there was more on this in the first book, but this felt like it was loaded with plot potential that never happened.
There was no world-building for the Fae lands. None. I never understood why there was an issue between the Fae and humans having relations. Other than Plot Demands It.
Pros
1. The steamy scenes were well done.
2. The author earned her ending with the villain. Everything has been laid out throughout the story, so his demise is well staged.
3. While it was awfully fast, the sweet romance between the characters appealed to me.
Cons
1. I never understood the villain. Why didn't he just kill the heroine when he had her? Where was the heroine's magic dust?
2. The overall plot was pretty sparse. And I am not much of a fan of characters falling in love after knowing each other one night.
3. The heroine did some risky stupid things and didn't seem able to take care of herself. Would have much preferred to see her as strong, independent and capable so I didn't want to wring her neck when she behaved carelessly.
Overall, an easy read. Nothing unexpected, nothing very memorable, but a pleasant way to spend an evening.

Move out of the way vampires, werewolves, and zombies, and make room for the faeries. Yes, I said faeries, and while Claire may be beautiful, she is as feisty as any other paranormal creature I have ever been introduced to. It was nice to see a faerie be portrayed as a strong independent female.
Finn is not a human weakling either. Finn has a subtle strength to him that I came to enjoy. He didn't have to prove that he was the big man on campus to win over my heart, or Claire's. It was the small things that proved that he was more than capable of protecting the ones he cared for and providing whatever they needed. While his playboy antics were a problem for him in the past, it is clear that he is not willing to miss a good thing when it comes to Claire. His ex's popping up in the story also made for interesting little twists that enhanced the story line.
One aspect that I think is worth mentioning was how entertaining Claire's internal battle was when it came to Finn. His being human was a large concern of hers and on more than a few occasions almost blinded her to not only how much Finn cared for her, but also her own feelings towards him. Her past plays a large role in her prejudices against humans and faeries having relations, so her relationship development with Finn allowed me to see both her romantic as well as personal growth. It also provides a better idea of real life prejudices, because I could sympathize with her feelings, yet not agree with them.
This story was absolutely entertaining from beginning to end. It is a story I would most certainly recommend for its distinguished characters and exciting plot line.

This was a sweet and magical story that made me smile. I love the chemistry between Claire and Finn which went from their hot arguments to hot sex which was smokin. A sweet sexy read.
Loved it. It was funny and entertaining and worth another read
This is a book where Regency England meets the Land of the Fae, where historical romance meets magic. Ms Falkner weaves a story where Fairies can cross over into the human world and from the moment Claire meets Finn the two of their lives will be changed. The rules are simple, do not fall in love with a human, do not marry a human, do not conceive a child with a human. However rules are meant to be broken. From the moment they meet the two are simultaneously attracted to each other while being a thorn in each others side. As the story progress's you will also be led into a world where the rich can indulge in any sexual fantasy, where rakes earn their reputations and where even the wealthiest can escape murder charges. A fun and easy read with a new twist to age old stories, I would recommend this for a lazy rainy afternoon.
I do believe this was my favorite book in the series! I loved the passion, chemistry, mystery and pure hotness of the book and I laughed my butt off! Claire is basically kidnapped by Lord Phineas (Finn) while his brother sorts out his love life to her sister in the land of the Fae. Finn is a ladies man until he meets the one fairy that he can't keep his hands off of.They share one magical night and she disappears, leaving Finn heart broke. Until months later she falls into his room through a magical portal. Now that she is back he will not let her go again. Claire and Finn head butt at every turn and she gives him a run for his money! She also has a secret that will change everything between them. Together they stumble into a dangerous intrigue with an old family enemy that may end up costing their lives and new-found love. This was one of those stories that stayed with me and I still find myself thinking about!
